Ok folks, let's keep all the discussions of our piggy banks here. Keep the Pinhotti 100 thread just about the race itself. Summary of previous Piggy Bank chat from gitagoing: ;D OK Sarah, let me help ;DYou may delete all previous messages on this topic if you wish. This is a summary of previous posts and may be a starting place for more posts. Keep the ones you wish.
Some of us GUTS runners are preparing for the Pinhoti 100M run. Here is a link: www.mountcheaha50k.org/
The race director has sent us Pinhoti Piggy Banks to support the GUTS runners. The idea of a Pinhoti Piggy Bank is just fun and a challenge to see who may get the most coins to put in the Piggy Bank to offset the costs, before the run.
The rules are you may collect coins, find coins, and other stuff like Tire weights or Aluminum or Copper or other stuff on the roads or trails to help put coins, that are not yours into the runners Pinhoti Pigggy Bank or the Pinhoti Aid Station Piggy Bank.
You must convert found items into real cash for the Pinhoti Piggy Banks. Also anyone may support your piggy bank with coins, that are not yours. Here is the last status of the Pinhoti Piggy Banks:
May Pinhoti Piggy Bank
Sarah = $0.46 Total = $0.46 ($0.05 donated to gitagoing ) $0.41 pending donation to aid station Piggy Bank, unless you are running the Pinhoti!!! Sally = $0.20 Total = $8.40 Slw Runner = $0.10 Total = $0.20 Bag O' Sand = $0 Total = $4.43 (Quit Losing Coins) cardmaster = $0 Total = $0.42 ricodorsey = $0 Total = $0.12 richcheese = $0.08 Total = $0.33 surftrip = $0 Total $11.80 (pending donation to Pinhoti Aid Station) gitagoing = $0.94 Total = $8.66 prez = $0.01 Total = $0.33 Aid Station Piggy Bank = $20.63
We have till November to collect stuff and stuff our Piggy Banks.

I found a very beat up penny this morning as I ran on the path in front of the Visitor Center at KM. It looked like it had been through a war or something.

;D This is a support message for y'all that are supporting the Pinhoti Piggy Bank and the Pinhoti 100m run ;D Anyone in the GUTS club may help or guests.... The Pinhoti Piggy Bank is just FUN, but the purpose is to keep anyone who wishes to complete the run focused on mileage and training. The run is in November, but the training is now. Comitment is now. The stuff you collect here and there shows your desire to support or run Pinhoti 100M and add to your Pinhoti Piggy Bank. We all know that when November comes around, all the Pinhoti Banks will not matter, but maybe the one with the fullest Piggy Bank, come the end of October, will have prepared to give all the GUTS starters a finish. May Pinhoti Piggy Bank Sarah's Da Southside Pinhoti Aid Bank = $0.46 Total = $0.46 Sally = $0.20 Total = $8.40 Slw Runner = $0.10 Total = $0.20 Bag O' Sand = $0.01 Total = $4.44 cardmaster = $0.01 Total = $0.43 ricodorsey = $0 Total = $0.12 richcheese = $0.08 Total = $0.33 gitagoing = $1.06 Total = $8.78 prez = $0.01 Total = $0.33 Aid Station Piggy Bank = $20.63 gitagoing somes times misses coins, so if you want to contest your Piggy Bank ask!!

I have fallen behind in my reporting ... mainly because I have been running almost exclusively on trails, but also because the only thing I do seem to find is tire weights!
In the last week I have found two pennies, about 20 tire weights, two more lug nuts and a three inch by two inch (by a half inch thick) hunk of steel.
I might be headed to the recycling center soon!

;D Bag o' Sand, do not be disappointed when you re-cycle, the trip may not seem worth the effort when you see what they give you for all of your days on the road ;D Just remember they are real coins, what ever they give you, be nice to them for they really work for a living. The real reward will come at Pinhoti, keep trying to make your Piggy Bank FAT!!!!!!! May Pinhoti Piggy Bank Sarah's Da Southside Pinhoti Aid Bank = $0.46 Total = $0.46 Sally = $0.20 Total = $8.40 Slw Runner = $0.10 Total = $0.20 Bag O' Sand = $0.03 Total = $4.47 cardmaster = $0.01 Total = $0.43 ricodorsey = $0 Total = $0.12 richcheese = $0.08 Total = $0.33 gitagoing = $1.06 Total = $8.78 prez = $0.01 Total = $0.33 Aid Station Piggy Bank = $20.63 One week for additions. ;D OK Update ;D May Pinhoti Piggy Bank Sarah's Da Southside Pinhoti Aid Bank = $0.46 Total = $0.46 Sally = $0.21 Total = $8.41 Slw Runner = $0.10 Total = $0.20 Bag O' Sand = $0.03 Total = $4.47 cardmaster = $0.01 Total = $0.43 ricodorsey = $0 Total = $0.12 richcheese = $0.11 Total = $0.36 gitagoing = $1.14 Total = $8.86 prez = $0.01 Total = $0.33 Aid Station Piggy Bank = $20.63 gitagoing had a memorial run today. the course was the Strolling Jim practice course set up on roads with all the (this is not a hill) hills included. my freedom for the memorial day run was provided by my past loved ones who have given their best. some came back and some did not. in my NAVY class of 1966, a few did not come back, so i thought of these kids as i ran. the past is over and i mostly forgot all of it. but today there are more to be remembered. gitagoing is sure you know some and a lot are on the list. for those that have served or are serving, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, BE SAFE, My God Bless You. what did you find on your run today gitagoing??? i am sure glad you asked that question!!! the road gods provided great stuff. as you may or may not know some of the GUTS members are running the Pinhoti 100M. We have created a thread about the run in the forum and have created a Pinhoti Piggy Bank. Anyone may join us in the quest to fill the Pinhoti Piggy Banks. getguts.com is our site. today gitagoing found 9 tire weights, 3 pounds of aluminum cans, some copper pieces and 8 pennies. gitagoing also found a sterling silver chain. well why are these items important gitagoing?? thank you for that question. near our area we have a re-cycling center that accepts lead tire weights. going price this week is $0.25-$0,30 per pound, so best to have 3# for a dollar. these are easy to fit into your pockets. lead from these weights are soluble and find their way into our water supply. well y'all know what lead does if ingested. the center also accepts aluminum cans, WOW. going price is 35-75 cents per pound. yea it takes a lot , but a lot are out there. also just look what you do by clearing your neighborhood of these cans. seems last night road crew liked bud light the best. the copper also is accepted, but it will take you longer to git a stash. they pay more for copper, so separate and hang on. there may be other found items like the sterling silver chain. could you explain the bottom line for us gitagoing??? of course, great question!!!!!!!!! the above items or others must be converted to cash for the Pinhoti Piggy Banks, simple idea. the cash in our Piggy Banks are to ofset the entry fees or to help the aid stations. of course any real cash you find on the roads or associated with a run, that you find and is not yours goes directly into the Pinhoti Piggy Bank, you must be honest. gitagoing post the results. the Fatter the Piggy, the more miles you have done to prepare for a finish is the thought. do you have anyother thoughts gitagoing?? well actually yes, thank you. i wish the NAM Vets the best and my team the best. remember we will always be one team. the dishes your MOM taught you to cook hopefully will just be used in your HOME kitchen now. gitagoing

My Memorial Day run started out as a walk at the River with my wife and father-in-law (a Korean War era vet). Then I ran a three mile loop, then up the Sope Creek trails and then home. I guess I ran about 9 miles or a little more. It was a beeeeautiful day for a run!
Found: One very tiny tire weight. I also found a rubber super ball that is about the size of a "shooter" in marbles. In fact, the only reason I stopped to pick it up is because I thought it WAS a shooter! Maybe we can sell it at the garage sale.

I've been running mostly trails so not much coinage lately ... but, yesterday (on another run from my house to the Sope Creek trails and back that turned into a painful shuffle home) I found a quarter, a tire weight and another blade from a trimmer. (somebody out there really needs to tighten their bolts! This is the second blade I've found lately!)
I saw a bunch of other tire weights on the outbound. I was going to pick them up on the way back, but I was too "tired" to remember where I saw them.
Total: 25 cents and some more metal in my recycle bucket.
