I have this fun-run on Monday that I was hoping would be cool and dry. Instead the weather Gods are throwing a Nor'easter at me. With more than 3 hours in head wind and heavy rain and temperatures around 40F, I am asking for Gear advice. My question is, what is the best gear for running in the rain in this kind of temperature? I know they say don't do anything different than what you have done in your training but I can't control the weather. Good luck to all of you running SweetH20 Saturday.

The only thing that I would do different is wear a jacket and a baseball style cap. I have light weight running jacket that I wear when it is cold or raining. I add layers underneath depending on how cold it is.
I don't mind getting rained on, but I don't like it in my face. That's the reason for the cap. I have two that I like. Both are made with a wicking type material. I got one in my goody bag at the Rocket City Marathon. The other one was purchased at Big Peach Running. It has the Big Peach logo on it. Right now it is my favorite. It works great.
Also the jacket gives you pockets for more storage. I would recommend carrying one or two of those lip balms that is really just a tube of Vasoline. The wet clothes will rub you raw quicker, so keep some Vasoline handy.
If you get too hot, or it stops raining, you can always take the jacket off and tie the sleeves together around your waist.

I have never run in the conditions you describe, but were I to do so I would wear a lightweight water and wind proof jacket with a short or long sleeve shirt underneath. I would also wear gloves, a baseball cap (of a wicking material), and something to go over the ears.
I personally would be more concerned about the wind than the rain (and wind with rain is even worse). I would want to wear as few clothes as possible because whatever one wears will get wet and eventually become soaked.
I work at Phidippides and helped someone today who is also running your fun run on Monday. I sold him a jacket, gloves that can be converted into waterproof mittens (and converted back if your fingers get too hot), and some things that look like big headphones but will keep your ears warm and still allow you to wear a hat.
Good Luck!

I avoid running in such weather. Always prefer to run early morning and wear Adidas women shoes for it. They are very comfy and flexible. And helps a lot in smooth running. Recently also purchased alo yoga pants which are really good. Wearing them for my yoga class.
