A few reports from Hot To Trot are rolling in. Gary Griffin posted an enjoyable one at the Gulf Winds Track Club's web site www.gulfwinds.org/Enjoy!

Thanks for posting the link. It was a good read. I can relate to the last paragraph describing the temp after the race and drinking water non stop for days. Great fun though.

Just finished reading Gary's report on the race and thought I might add a few comments myself . . .
First, I would like to thank Sarah for a well planned event. She kept everything organized and running smoothly throughout the day. I am a little new to the Ultra scene and the friendly atmosphere at the event was greatly appreciated by me and my daughter.
I can't really give an accurate blow by blow report of the race. After about 4 hours, everything started to blend together. Here are some memorable aspects that I do recall:
While setting up the chair, cooler and other items near the start, we met Dante Ciolfi who was setting up his items next to us. It was fun to see him throughout the day. His friendly manner lightened up the tensions of the race which I always seem to feel.
Running with John Dove during the middle half of the race really helped me to relax and get out of the old road racing mentality. Discussing his Ultra experiences and learning from his suggestions was very helpful. Unfortunately, he was having some knee problems from a mishap the prior week and I sincerely hope he is on the path of recovery. Best of Luck John in your upcoming Leadville race!
During the first half of the race, my daughter ran about 4 or 5 laps with me. As a Freshman, this is her first year of running cross country in high school and joining me for part of the race was a real treat.
Toward the end of the race, I was starting to worry about Gary Griffin, who was looking strong. He was closing the gap and he acurately described me going through a "bad patch". I guess things finally turned numb during the last 45 minutes and I was able to pull myself together for a strong finish.
I am now sitting in my lazyboy with a swollen ankle and have not run a single mile in 6 days. The doctor says nothing is permanently damaged but my race/training schedule is going through some major adjustments.
Thanks again to Sarah and all the volunteers that made the 2005 Hot 2 Trot a success and hope to see the same faces next year.

Josh, if you don't mind a little drive from your area Sweetwater Creek State Park sounds like something that might interest you. It's west of Atl off I-20 @ Thornton Rd area, you can be on the trail within 10 min. once you get off the interstate.
