I had my VO2 Max tested during college along with the rest of the cross country team.
I learned two things of interest.
1) I am suppose to have run alot faster than I did as my VO2 Max was 72 but I was only a 31 min 10k runner.
2) I was very efficient - As the treadmill increased in incline and speed every few minutes at some point the runner would cross the line from aerobic running to anaerobic running, shortly there after they would "crap out". At 18 minutes when the speed and incline changed I went anaerobic but after about 15-20 seconds my body adjusted and went back aerobic again for nearly 2 minutes.
Neither my coach nor I did anything with this information in our training except know that I would be leading the group on the Sunday mrning long runs.
But I should have seen the handwritting on the wall back then, I was ......
BORN TO BE AN ULTRARUNNER!
