Has anyone run this race, or heard anything in particular about it? I see Sean Blanton has registered already.
Here's what I can glean from the website. It looks like a 118 mile single loop course around Lake Okeechobee in Florida. Course is approximately 1/3 dirt two-track and 2/3 asphalt. Aid is only supplied in the form of public drinking fountains every 5-10 miles and 4 aid stations positioned where gaps between drinking fountains extend 20+ miles.
It's only in it's 4th year (2010 running), and I'm a little unsure what the $125 is buying me if there's only 4 aid stations with unknown offerings. That said, I'm kinda looking for a 100 miler that includes a bit of asphalt, that's fast, and is around that time of year.
Backstory: I'm likely going to try and apply for entry into Spartathlon (150 miles on mostly asphalt) and want to try and accumulate some experience helpful for that run. So, if the LOST-118 doesn't sound too sketchy I'd ideally think about running that along with the Keys 100 in May (or Old Dominion in early June) to prepare for Spartathlon in September.

heres what ive heard about the race.
even being last weekend in feb it will be in the 80s to 90s. zero sun protection! its almost 100% flat. elevation gain like under 1000 ft for the entire thing!!!! it says be aware of the gators and snakes haha.
yea im not sure what the $125 buys. you should come down and do it and we could share a crew or something Sean
Since getting volunteers out to the Lake to man aid stations is difficult the main method of aid is water, HEED, and a cooler filled with whatever I feel like buying. Cookies, candy, gels, pretzels, chips, etc. Has to fit in a cooler since I place them on the levee. Can expect aid about every 5-6 miles except for two places where you have a 10 mile run. I have had two excellent volunteer groups; the Boy Scouts and a running family; that provide extras like sandwiches and soups. Usually later in the run when most desired. In other words, you can run it unsupported and several have done so. The finishers all get plaques that have averaged about $45 each and the Female and Male winner get a painting/photograph usually mailed to them(as are the plaques). figure in trips to the lake, coordinating with the sheriffs(7 departments) and cities plus renting a van and stuff, the fee usually covers expenses. If more were running the fee could go down. Should point out the first year the entry fee was $30 and I intended to supply minimal aid. At the last minute I decided to add coolers on the levee and was glad I did with a brutal cold front moving in overnight. From that race I added up my expenses, figured 25 runners and divided. I will let you know where we are placing the coolers or aid stations so you can drop bags accordingly.

henry: I just joined GUTS so that I can run the Fat Ass 50K on 1/10/16. I can't afford the constant upward spiral of registration costs for most races in the southwest region! I wish there were more fat ass runs available.
