Question for everyone. Has anyone ever run the Disney Marathon or done the Goofy Challenge (Half and full marathon)? My friend wants to run the half and I was planning on running the full but the half is already full except for the Goofy Challenge. Is there any reason why we couldn't register for the Goofy Challenge as one person and split the numbers?

I have run the Goofy Challenge before. There are numerous reasons why I would encourage you not to do this. First of all, it's against the rules. You would be using two people to do what others are doing by themselves. It would be cheating the final rankings of the Goofy runners. I know that's not your intention - you just want to get an entry into the half - but that would be the result.
Also, the Goofy half-marathon finishers are given an armband to designate them as a Goofy runner in the full. I doubt they would check this unless you tried to claim the Goofy medal, but it is another deterrant.
Usually the half-marathon releases several more spots towards the end of the year. I would recommend waiting for this or looking at getting one of the charity entries.

Thanks. I really didn't want to do it and was looking for a good reason not to. Thanks for the info.

If you can get into the Goofy you'll love it... Only hard part is waking up at 3:30 AM two days in a row... My only other useful advice is bring a warm blanket to start area.. you sit around for a long time before the start and it's always been chilly if not down right cold the years I have run the marathon..... Good luck Dan

Hello, I did the goofy this year and am doing it again for 2010. it is fun! gets more crowded on marathon day in the parking lots etc for some reason, but you are done the races very early and have the rest of the day to enjoy.
