This movie sounds pretty interesting (for us runners). The Spirit of the Marathon is a documentary following Deena Kastor and several other marathoners as they prepare for Chicago 2005. The movie was shown in Chicago theaters before this year's heat debacle and received good reviews (from runners). it will be shown again around the country, but for one night only: January 24, 2008, 7:30 PM. To learn more you can enter your zip code at FathomEvents.com to see what theaters in your area will be hosting the movie. I know Barrett Commons AMC and the Atlantic Station theaters will be showing it. Tickets are $12.50. For more info: www.active.com/running/Articles/Spirit_of_the_Marathon.htmI plan to go! Maybe there will be a lot of GUTS Folks there?

There are plenty of places to eat around there. Janice --- there's a Willy's. Of course there is the Sweet Tomatoes that has been generous to GUTS races. Might be good to support them back.

If anyone wants to meet us for dinner beforehand we are going to be at Ted's Montana Grill at 6pm.
Ted's is located in the same shopping strip as the theaters. So close that we could just walk over to the theater after dinner.
cya then!

If you are making reservations, please count me in. Also, if anyone has an extra ticket please let me know since I have a friend that didn't buy one before they sold out.

Well, I am out for the dinner and movie. Just got a surprise out of town business trip and will barely make it back for Mountain Mist. I guess I can give my movie ticket to my friend who wanted it Anyway, I am going to be back for Mountain Mist and if anyone is interested in carpooling please send me a message. My plan is to leave Friday around 2:30PM from Kennesaw and I am staying Saturday night. I am staying at the Holiday Inn (race head quarter).

Is that the same Holiday Inn that is the race HQ for the Rocket City Marathon? If so, you should request the room that Elvis slept in!

We liked the movie. I think it ran 1hr 40 min plus and I didn't get tired of watching, probably a good indication that for me that it was on point. The web page said that the movie was sold out but there were empty seats. Would be a good movie for someone wanting to take up longer distances or to give new interest to us that may have wavered.

Great documentary. Really made me miss living in Chicago. It's a great city. Enjoyed hearing the stories of so many different types of people that run marathons today. From elite to the 6 hour gang, everyone was represented.
I even got a little misty at one point, but we won't talk about that. I think I'm getting soft in my old age. I blame it on having kids.
Anyway, if you missed it be sure to see it on Feb 21.
