It doesn't appear you can purchase a pass on line?

Not that I can see. They're screwing us totally. I'm actually thinking of heading to Panola Mtn at lunch tomorrow (tuesday) to get a pass.

It doesn't appear you can purchase a pass on line? While you may not be able to buy a pass directly, you can buy using: www.friendsofgastateparks.org/index.htmlYou should check with them about the price increase though.

I've emailed the state park contact to see if it's possible to purchase online today. I also expressed my disapproval of the fee hike Found this to be quite interesting:

Found this to be quite interesting: In the DeKalb county library system search on: "Georgia state parks and historic sites ParkPass" In DeKalb there are 45 copies (about half are checked out right now). In DeKalb they checkout for one week.

While the fee increase is significant from a percentage perspective, at the end of the day it's just $50 bucks towards a resource that we actually use and that we can clearly see needs a bit of help.
I'd rather shell out money for the parks over some of the random crap that our tax dollars support.
Maybe someone will start a State Park Fee Piggy Bank thread. Seems right up Get-A-Goings alley.

I think such a large increase in an economy where folks are lucky to have jobs and struggling to make ends meet is irresponsible and just downright stupid. The rangers I talked with at Sweetwater Creek over the weekend are quite concerned that this will severely impact park use.

Well, we are talking about politicians. I believe the alternative is closing parks and cutting personnel. It's a tough call.
I purchase the family pass from the Friends group. Free parking plus 2 nights of camping free. Plus 10% off cabins, camping, and store purchases. Still a good deal for me.

;D gitagoing has a Golden Age Pass and receives a Senior discount for the park trails. ;D Sarah can't handle another Piggy Bank, so you will have to think of something else Here is a poem to remind you that $50 ain't all that bad, but it used to be free, since they are our parks. Rangers have to eat also. Sweet Runcross the bouncy bridge over the rocky ridge miles are quickly passing by by the gates of green sometimes in daylight dreams time finds the whirlwind to fly down the winding way footfalls are at play miles are quickly ambling on hear the creatures call music made for all no one around but not alone thru the sunbeams and shadows only one heartbeat now matters miles are quickly growing bold ahead is the roaring river from above just a sliver now showing a silent soul all day chasing soft sunset on the beach pause, peace and rest miles quickly show cunning charm evening passes quietly night enfolds me lightly tonight I rest safely in his arms gitagoing
