We received an e-mail on this event to post the flyers in the lounges of the BPRC stores and thought that it might be of interest to my fellow GUTS members: www.smokymountainendeavors.com/SEAL_Extreme_Challenge.htmlI called the RD (Dan, a former SEAL) to learn more about the event and about his property on which the event takes place. He has 65 acres w/ an obstacle course, near vertical hills with rope climbs, and clearings for future cabins which would be perfect for camping for the event on April 4 (Or perhaps for a future GUTS race...). Note: I have no idea how difficult the course is and realize that the distance is not in the ultra category - Just thought that it might be the type of event that would appeal to some GUTS folks for a little 'change of pace'.

Sounds pretty cool - would like to know if any one participates in the event, and if so, their impressions. Cheers!

i would posit that many of the hashes run in the atlanta area (certain hares for black sheep, bear creek and southern comfort) are as hard or harder than this would be. of course, having seen nothing of the course, that's just a guess.
they are also local, only cost $7 and you get beer and junk food at the end. but no t-shirts.

Jon, your recommendation was enough for my step-son! We signed up for the 2.2k. He was a little tentative, so we compromised.
We looked up the website and there were some grainy pictures of guys going over wooden walls and such. We are looking forward to the obstacles and rope climbs.
I will let you know what we find.

John, I think you'll have to add us as friends before we can see the report. I sent a friend request. Looking forward to seeing the details!

I am starting to think Facebook was the wrong forum for a race report. I wanted something that everyone could get to easily...any suggestions?

Blogging works for many. Facebook can link to your blogs automatically as well.
Or you can post it here. Or submit to the newsletter.
I enjoyed the report and the pics.
