David - I ran TA last year, and half of MMM, in training, and find the terrain to be very similar for both.
TA has that gnarly first climb, but MMM has climbs too.
MMM has a lot of that double-track ...so does TA.
TA has lots of gravel - which I don't love - but some people do.
TA was hot last year --- especially in the exposed sections.
It feels like a 50K.
I think you'll love it. I did.

This will be my virgin trail run. I've done many-o-marathon on the asphalt, but I've got a feeling I have NO idea what's in store for me on the trails...

And if the Colonel is with you and you hear tornado sirens, run really really fast. He knows how to out run them!
