Can anyone tell me any info about the FA50k course, I am a relative newby to ultra running but think it would be worth a try. Is it a paved course or on the trail? Any elevation gain or any other details would be much appreciated.

There's a section for FA50K info in the members section of the forum. Get the super-secret members only access from the webmistress.
But it is on trails.

Welcome aboard! Yeah, like davidray said, check with Sarah or Janice to get you hooked up with the member area of the forum and you will get more info. But what I CAN tell you is that the trail is totally hardcore awesome ;D

So do you have to be a member to run this race? I was thinking it sounded fun and low key.... how can a non member register

I think the "race" is $10 for non-members but free for members. Membership is $15 so go ahead and join. Just HTFU as they say.
Joining is well worth the $15. Get GUTS.
