I've always used the Timex Ironman series and have been happy with them. I got one of the new Flix watches earlier this year and liked it because the numbers are big and easy to see and I can decide if I want to see the lap split or cumulative time in big numbers. BUT I was running the Bartram Forest marathon yesterday in the rain and mud and my watch - which is water resistant to 100' - couldn't handle rain and my watch shorted out about 1/2 way through . It kept reseting itself to midnight on 01-01 and I lost my splits. It did that for awhile, then died. I had a jeweler put in a new battery a couple months ago, so it wasn't the battery. The watch failure was most annoying to an OCD runner like myself who likes the keep splits and monitor times, etc. Do you have a watch you like? Post your responses here, it's almost time for Christmas.

I have a Garmin Forerunner 305 and I would by another one tomorrow if I lost this one. I would actually downgrade to the 205 since I never use the heart rate monitor. It does a good job reading the distance but it can measure a course somewhat short if there are many switchbacks and I am deep in the woods.

Ditto what Nils said. But I have the 205 and would get the 305 for the HRM so I woudn't have two wear two watches.

I too am an OCD runner. I have had every dang running watch/monitor ever made and am currently afflicted with the Garmin 405. It does a great job and has a heart rate monitor too. The web site to upload the data is not the greatest (yet?) but I have some work arounds I can share.
Good Luck

Yeah I would also have to go buy another 305 if I lost mine. It keeps satellites in the woods very well compared to other watches. I never use the HRM so I would probable go for the 205 next time, though.
