The Griz (Janice Anderson) became a Masters runner today! I have started this discussion thread so that everyone can post funny, harrassing, encouraging messages throughout the day so that when the Griz returns from her birthday getaway she will have something to entertain her. Happy Birthday Janice! Welcome to Club Masters!!!!

Happy Birthday Janice.
Being a Master runner you will now add a minute a mile to your times. You will need 3 extra days to recover after long runs (3 miles or more) and hair will grow out of your ears. Enjoy!!!

Hey Grizz....welcome to my decade!
Can't wait to see hair growing out your ears!! You'll have to get a new picture for your driver's license!

Just remember these words:
"I can't help it, I'm old!"
P.S. Be prepared. Think about what to say when AARP calls. The _next_ call will probably be them... ;D

The ear hair is not so bad, you can always get one of the ear hair thing a mi jigs to mow your ears. The worst part is gravity, things that use to be on the top shelf are not on the bottom shelf and you can't do anything about it. ;D Enjoy your 40's.

Happy B-Day Janice I like to look at the glass as half full.... now you're in a new age group and you are the young one kicking butt. Should make for some interesting competition.... but then who's that serious. Mike (still stuck in LA)
(That's lower alabama)

i was obvioulsy on vacation tooooo long, having missed until now all the remarks
thanks for the "support", i think....
being 40 is a little weird, having run for so very long, and for so long thinking of "masters" as being "old", but I do prefer it to the alternative (ie dirt nap)
no ear hair yet, i'm sure it's soon to come, i won't mention the hot flashes and all that, but it is good to be around...all you guys! J "Griz"

Griz, welcome to the world of "masters", it's not bad.
Question for the GUTS crowd to ponder....
If you are like some of us and like it hot, any idea how HOT it will be on August 19th?

JB, If I'm sitting in air conditioned comfort at home August 19th it shouldn't feel so hot. If, on the other hand, you are planning an intense 50K trail race for that day(!?!) then I'm going to re-stock my electrolyte stash... Just promise me that I won't have to carry a pumpkin. Some like it hot. Peace. B
