Welcome! I'm not near Calhoun, but I'm sure there are some folks around here who can help. Also, keep an eye open for GUTS group runs at Fort Mountain, that's not far from you, and at Red Top.
You might also try going by the Rock Creek store in Chattanooga, I'm sure they know tons about the trails in NW Georgia.

Hi clgwisher. I live in Gordon County also. The Calhoun Cycling club has an open house this Sunday on some trails they have been working on. It is for anyone cyclist, runners, hikers. I have no idea what they are like. They have some info on their website. They are called the Water Tower trails and they are located only about a mile from the armory. The Georgia Pinhoti can be accessed from 136 or Exit 333 in Dalton. This is a great single track trail which, from my understanding will one day connect to the Alabama Pinhoti. I enjoy the almost 5 mile trail located on 140 between 411 & Waleska. Only about 15 minutes from Fairmount my home town. Also Fort Mountain has the Gahuti and Red Top has several trails also. If you want a good flat run on a soft surface head down to Cartersville and run the two mile loop at Delinger Park. This would be a great location for a 24 hour event. Also Adairsville has a good loop of maybe 1.5 miles in a little park just south of town on 41, the name escapes me. Another great single track trail is located in Cartersville at the Main Street exit. A lot of climbing and descending with hardly any level ground if you need a good climbing workout. Hope this helps. Oh yeah, a decent trail, with lots of ups and downs can be found at Salacola Park but it is only about a mile long. Terry
