Listen, I have found a couple of important tips and would like others to share with me so I don't have to find out the hard way.
1st tip, most important, cover your nips, bandaids, a must 2nd tip, clip big toe nails all the way down race morning, I lost one on the FA50K. 3rd tip try to keep impact to a minimum early to save the bottoms of your feet, ankles, knees and hips.
Some please add the stuff I want to know. I was looking at pictures of the SweetH2 50K and saw a deep water river crossing up to the waist. My feet would be through.... What do you do, what is the best way to attack this with 20 plus miles to go?
I think fueling 5 minutes prior to a steep hill climb is important. Those sports beans did me well.
Thanks for any tips. And good luck to everyone in the upcoming runs.

I use Scotch tape instead of BandAids. One roll of tape lasts a very long time. As for the water at Sweetwater Creek. Don't worry too much about it. It is so hot during that race that your shoes will be dry in no time! The only tips that I have is to rub Vaseline on your feet prior to the race, and I wear Injinji toe socks (this is personal preference ... I have worn Smart Wool socks too, and they both work fine). If you want, you can always put a pair of dry socks in your drop bag. I think the drop bag location is right after the crossing. But as long as you have good trail shoes they will drain well and you shouldn't have a problem. Another tip you might receive from Christian would be: Don't take your shorts off in the creek to wash them out. If you do, you may find yourself running the rest of the race in your "nut-huggers".
