I am a fairly new trail runner (started last year in Sept, done a few "short" races (11m, 1/2 marathon, 15k, etc) and one trail marathon last year) but long term runner and triathlete (30 years running, 15 years triathon). I am ready to get into ultras and want to start with a 50k, any suggestions. Hoping to find one (I don't mind technical trails or tough terrain) within a 2 hour drive of Atlanta......any suggestions are welcome. Probably shooting for late 2008, early 2009.....

Join GUTS (if you haven't already) and come to Kennesaw to run the Pumpkin Butt 50K in October.

I signed up for Mountain Mist, any training suggestions? I do a lot of training Kennesaw (for over 2 hour runs) and Soap Creek for shorter, more technical stuff.

Back to back long runs are a good way to prepare for a 50K.
