There's a short but good article on RunnersWorld.com about the 5 most common pre-race mistakes. One I've preached about for years is drinking tons of water the day before assuming you're hydrating when in fact you're diluting electrolytes. Read the full article here.

Yeah I saw that, that was pretty interesting. It seems that if you had electrolytes in what you were drinking it wouldn't be as bad for you, though...

My most spectacular pre race mistake was before Oak Mountain this year....I didn't have time to go grocery shopping and my cupboards were bare....I took the 2 Red Bulls in my refrigerator (which had been there a very long time since I almost never drink the stuff) with me since I was out of Diet Coke, my usual pre race drink, and drank them on the road. Then I was starving so I stopped at McDonalds for an Egg McMuffin! Needless to say this was a very bad choice for a pre race meal....I was literally as green as my shirt the entire race...I did finish though.
