I'm assuming that most of the folks on this board are interested in following Karl M's progress as he attempts to break the AT speed record. If so, you can get updates at: www.whereskarl.com/Or, for more colorful commentary check out: www.whiteblaze.net/forum/showthread.php?t=32105&page=2This thread is 18 pages long and filled with some pretty funny/interesting thoughts on his attempt. Based on the postings, Karl is off to a strong start. Take a look. Jason

The new pics and video posted is pretty intense. 3 or 4 days of straight rain. Touch way to start off.
I actually mentioned this to my neighbor who works for CNN and it looks like they are going to pull together a segment on the attempt. Pretty cool.

Looks like the attempt may be coming to an end. Poison ivy on his feet. Big blister on his toe. Inflamed shin muscle.

Nah, poison ivy? To an end? That isn't right!! I think he will continue, and push foward. As a matter of fact I am nearly betting on it! I have been working with the PR and Blog lady who is running the show there for Karl, we have been talking about doing a finish "get together" up there at the finish. I certainly hope he makes the finish, let alone the record!! The more i hear, the more i will post, I have mentioned making the finish "get together" a group thing, and involving GUTS members. So if anyone who reads this cares, then write on the blog for whereskarl.com, and root him on! He needs more inspiration, and what better way than to have fellow ultrarunners root him along!! Lane

Trench foot! That can't feel good.
Looks like the record attempt is over for now. Sounds like Karl is going to try and finish up the run and come back next year for another go.

I just checked his blog for the first time in several days. What's up with the negative comments by some posters? (probably just one numbnut posting mulitple times, but still! ...)

What's up with the negative comments by some posters? (probably just one numbnut posting mulitple times, but still! ...) ha! ...there's a term for jealousy masked as negativity - it's called "haters", and unfortunately, as friendly as ultrarunning is, there seems to be a lot of haters out there too... funny thing is, you rarely see them running ...just hear them bashing others' running. imagine that...

I just checked his blog for the first time in several days. What's up with the negative comments by some posters? (probably just one numbnut posting mulitple times, but still! ...) How can people talk sh*t about Karl's attempt? Seems crazy. Yes he knew what he signed up for. No he didn't think it was going to be a cake walk. I'm guessing the neg comments are coming from people who don't really know who he is and what he has done. They guy is a bad ass. I would bet he'll kill it next year. Maybe he should start in GA. Seems that we can't buy rain around here.

Looks like Karl is still going strong. He's blazing his way through PA. Keep an eye out for the segment on CNN. I saw it last night and will try to post a link.
Lane, any update on beers at Spring when Karl finishes up?

Looks like Karl and crew should be showing up at Spring in the next few days. Probably Monday or Tuesday. Can't imagine being on the road for that long...doing the same thing day after day. Little intense.
