I have a couple of weeks off starting the 8th Aug. After not sleeping much since December, a couple of months with bruised ribs, and another couple recovering from a separated shoulder, I really need to decompress a bit. And get in some quality runs.
We decided this year to stay close to home and explore the area, while I rediscover how to be a dad and husband. I'm thinking of a 3-4 nights in a cabin in Blue Ridge and maybe a few somewhere else. The rest I can spend getting some projects done at home.
Anyone have cabin recommendations in Blue Ridge and elsewhere in the North Mtns (that takes dogs)? I'm looking for something with trail nearby, even better if I can mtn bike as well, but running is the main concern. I just want to keep away from the car as much as possible.
Thanks all!

hmmmm .... somehow I missed this post. paul, I've stayed at the Brasstown Valley Resort at Thanksgiving the last couple of years. We stayed in the hotel, but I've heard they have cabins that are nice. There is a trail system that passes right by the hotel. They also have a golf course, horses, etc. It is alos just a short drive to Brasstown Bald and the trails up there. Check it out here: www.brasstownvalley.com/Or, I'm sure Ron Zadroga could steer you in the right direction. He is the RD for the Blue Ridge Mountain Masters 50K. He lives up around Blue Ridge somewhere ... and runs the trails up there to train for 100 milers ... so he knows the trail system very well. You can get his email address off of the following website. Just scroll down to November 15th. His email address is listed for the BRMM. running.net/ultra-running-calendarWhile I was googling for the BRMM site, I ran across these sites. They might be helpful ... www.blueridgelodge.com/www.blueridgegamountaincabins.com/
