Work keeps getting in the way of my long runs, but am going to make an attempt to do 16 or so this Sunday morning at Kennesaw if anyone would like to join me. If you really want, you can join me after the run as well at work.

Reeve, I can't make it. I've been really bummed about not getting longer runs in. So, last night after my daughter got home from her date and went to bed, I started running. I thing it was about 12:45 AM by the time I set up my aid station and hit the road. My idea was to do a seven mile loop around Indian Hills. Dang those Indians and their Hills! I was trying to go slow, but after only a couple of loops I didn't have a choice. I don't know what my problem was but it was a struggle. I ended up doing four loops and retired to an ice bath. It took me 6:04:31 of some running, and a whole lot of shuffling and walking. But after a couple of hours of sleep, I'm feeling pretty good. Anyway, I'm pooped, and the wife is ticked that I did something "stupid and just plain crazy" (to read that last part right you need to add a fair measure of venom to the little reading voice in your head ) so the leash is a little shorter this weekend.

WOW!!! That's amazing... Actually it is not PC to call it Indian Hills but I'm going to have to let you slide on that one. As for "stupid and just plain crazy," I think you might have set the bar a little higher for the rest of us. What is this leash you speak of... if she is really into that I know of a certain night club in midtown she might really enjoy.
If you ever need a late night training partner again let me know, I am intrigued by this, although I would prefer trails, as I am terrified of all those people coming home from the clubs in midtown might be on the street. Not that their drunk, just that they are cruising for someone to put on a leash.
Hope your weekend turns out well! Cheers, reeve

HAW HAW! I was a little worried about cars too, but after about 1:30 or 2:00, I didn't see but a couple all night. I would much prefer trails as well, but running out the front door, and having my driveway as an aid station has its advantages. (but the dang asphalt gave my legs and feet a pounding!)
Sope Creek is not far from my house, but running over there messes up my aid station plans. Plus, I've heard so many coyotes in there late in the afternoon that I'm a little worried about running through there at night by myself.
Have a good run tomorrow!

Woke up a little late and decided to skip Kennesaw and do a longer run along the river. I managed 14 miles with only one river crossing with pavement, and only backtracked for about a 1/4 of a mile. I think I am getting slower. It took me well over 2 hours to cover this distance, and I am whipped.

...I think I am getting slower. It took me well over 2 hours to cover this distance, and I am whipped. I think it was the heat, humidity, and air quality (today was an Orange Air Quality Alert day). I finally got some time to run this afternoon. I started about 2:30 and ran for 3:17:57. I think I only did about 17 miles, but it might have been more. 4.2 from my house to the Sope Creek parking lot. (times 2 = 8.4) I think the trail from there to the river is about 2 miles each way, but I added on some side trails. I don't know how much I added on, but I didn't think I was running much over a 9:30 pace and it took me a little over an hour to do the first down and back. Then I did another down and back (I stayed mostly on "main street" the second time) and did that "loop" in just under an hour. I walked a few of the steeper hills, so I have no idea what my total pace was. All I know is that it was muggy out there! And I sure am glad they put in that water fountain in the Sope Creek parking lot! It was a life saver today. (I carried two handhelds and refilled them three times at that fountain!)
