so give us the lowdown on the "course" you will be running so we can join you. i need my beauty rest, so i won't be starting at 6, but thought i would come out for some of your later miles (hopefully you'll be good and tired then :-))
i can set some stuff out on the trail near my house, if you'd like, maybe a little birthday cake?
Speaking of birthdays....HAPPY Birthday to Reeve today!

i plan on starting at burnt hickory right at the base of pigeon hill, then running up pigeon hill and taking a right and doing a small loop back across burnt hickory and that field we run across early in the FA then back to the truck. then i will run over the mountain to the visitor center and back. then i will run a CCW loop out to kolb farm (or whatever the big loop is called) utilizing the goat trail both ways. i will do this twice. and i plan on running very slow (hence the early start) my truck will be my aid station and i will be passing it several times during the day. i think jay may be with me and i may be able to talk him into carrying his cell phone. i would prefer having the cake at the top of kennesaw

So now that we know the vehicle and the times he won't be there, I bet some GUTS members could manage to do a little birthday decorating of said vehicle. Possibly a birthday cupcake, message, etc.? ;D

Jason, how did it go this afternoon? I sure enjoyed the run in the morning. Sorry I missed y'all at the water fountain. I guess I'm still doing a good job of living up to my "boy, that guy sure gets lost alot" reputation! LOL!
BTW - anybody know anything about how much weight you can lose before you get pulled in a race? I weighed when I got up this morning and weighted 180. When I got home, even after drinking a Coke and another Powerade on the way, I weighted 174. How much is too much? All I know is definitely have to work on my nutrition and hydration!
Today I drank a 70 oz hydration pack full of Gatorade Endurance, about three or four Powerades, and ate two GU's, two packs of cheese crackers, two or three slices of watermelon, three or four handfuls of chips, a quarter of a peanut butter sandwich and about a quarter of a cup of granola. Obviously it wasn't enough. By the time I DNF'd at 21-22 miles, my leg cramps were getting pretty bad. Live and learn, I guess.

it was fun joining you on your birthday mileage mission. but boy was it hot! couldn't you have been born in a cooler month? it was a long trip up the mountain that last time, but you did great and were smart enough to call it a day at 31-33 miles.
glad you liked the mini cake ;D

janice,
i must say that cake was quite tasty. i had all intentions of eating it a little at a time and sharing with angela, two seconds later it was gone.
i will probably be out there saturday morning going back and forth over the mountain to get a last day of hot hill climbing in before laurel
