Do any GUTS know about this race? I want to drive up but can't get any response from email ?'s from the Boonies Forum or Rock Creek. The dates now say 21,22 & 23 (Sat, Sun, Mon) but Active.com says 20,21 & 22. (Fri, Sat,Sun) This will work right in to Pinhoti training for me but geeze it's hard to find out anything! Hate to moan and groan but travel and GAS is a definite cause to plan. Any GUTS planning on going? TIA, any info will help

;D Mike I am going ;D I hope you are LSD because three days of LSD will be good. As soon as I sober up I'll put together a plan. Karl King is sending me a package of his products to try to prepare for Pinhoti 100m. I plan to try them at the three day event. Anyone is welcome to come along and share expenses, especially if you plan to run the Pinhoti 100m. We may need each other out there on the trail. I don't see a Piggy Bank for you Mike??? gitagoing

I would have joined the piggy bank but very seldom do you see coins on farm roads, that's all there is here! Sometimes I might find a corn cob, cotton boll, soybean or rat snake but not much redeemable, so I just went on and sent in a check. Yes, I'm all about LSD, been doing it for years, my friends swear I'm brain damaged from it. I'm figuring I'll have to camp to be able to afford this trip, and the future trips, north to train on actual hills. I also will be using Karl's' products hoping to add enough gitupandgo to complete all 3 days and still drive back Sunday...or is it Monday?? LSDMike

.... that's all there is here! ... Au contraire!!! I believe Daphne is the "Jubilee City" !!!!! The aid station piggy bank will gladly accept blue crabs, flounder, and shrimp!! Just back them in dry ice and ship them to my address in Marietta and will be happy to eat them ... uh ... I mean ... uh .... take care of them. Ok, I figured I had better do some research for those of you who have never heard of "Jubilee". Basically, it is a phenomenon that only occurs on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay (and, I think, also somewhere in China). When the time and conditions are right, scores of fish, crabs, stingrays, etc. will beach themselves on the shore. Residents patrol the beaches and when they see this occuring they will ring bells to alert their neighbors and everybody will run out on the beach with nets to scoop up the blessings from the sea that the Good Lord has provided! ... here is a link to the Daphne, AL website where they describe the phenomenon: www.daphneal.com/jubilee.asp

I see Rock Creek changed the dates on the website. I called them yesterday and they said it was their mistake, oops, and that the Active.com dates are correct. Looks like I'm set to go. I'll be in the mid/back, but if it wasn't for us slow pokes, the fast folks would be in big trouble! I hope to see some of you there, if not, come on down for the next Jubilee when you hear the bells ringing! Hasn't been one for a while so there should be one soon.

;D I may be able to provide a hangout for GUTS runners that are going to the Stage run, if y'all are not messy ;D My son Chris owes me and he lives in Chattanooga. He will not be running. I think they will be on vacation in Florida. The keys to their apartment/house may be available. We may have a seafood din din for our friend LSDMIKE, if he knows how to cook it and clean up. If I am able to pull this off, you should keep this thought in mind. "Leave no trace that you were ever there." That is a good thought wherever you go!!! You want to be just a good memory in folks minds. I am still thinking about the plan, and if I can do basically three Ultras in a row. gitagoing

Technically they aren't 'ultras'. Just think of them as three weekend runs in a row. I'm going with a positive attitude and registering after work. I hope to see you there and if your sons' house works out and the invitation offer is open, a clean floor and a shower would be nice. Don't know much about gormet cooking though.... I mostly grill my fish. LSDMike

;D You are technically correct LSDMIKE. ;D But I suspect the effort required where the "short runs" will be held may change your mind. 5-8 hours a day defines the Stages better than the distance. in gitagoing eyes that = a Ultra a day!!!!! but i'm slow so i really don't know.
