I got to meet Anne Rentz and her sister plus new member Laura at the race today. All of us were working the start in Time Group 2.
Lots of fun. Report is available on the blog below.

A little quickie report ...noutin' special, but I do like the event and enjoyed myself.
Nice seeing Janice, Sally and Marty (from a' far), Tony, Kim, and other GUTS and DCRR runners.
...and, at about 1/4 mile from the finish, I hear "surftrip!" ...I look, see a GUTS shirt, wait for the dude to catch up ....but never saw him again. Weird.
Did it really happen?

Nice report Christian. I ran with my daughter back in the 70,000's. We saw Steve in the mall parking lot as we were walking back to our group, but he was the only familiar face I saw all day. Not too many GUTS folks in the 70,000 group!
Amelia didn't tell me until 8:30 the night before the race that she wanted to run it. I had registered her in March, so she already had a bib number.
BTW - I saw the guy wearing the flag, and speedo. We rode MARTA with him and his friends after the race. They appeared to be pretty drunk, and were really obnoxious on the train. That, combined with the fact that they violating about half of the US Flag Code, it was all I could do not to smack them in the head.
This is a pet peeve of mine. Here are a couple of the US Flag Codes these guys were violating, and seem to be commonly violated these days:
- The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. ....... (One of the guys was wearing a bathing suit, or maybe they were shorts, made out of a flag)
- No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart. ............. (Wearing the flag as a cape is clearly using it as a "costume".)

The finish was okay. This year was better for me because I actually knew people running so I had fun trying to find everyone.
Last year, I didn't hang around much down at the park after the race.
But the race was still good to me.

How'd y'all like that new finish? This year's finish would have been better if the Army Corp of Engineers had come out with a bunch of earth moving equipment and leveled that last hill! I prefer the park, but it sure was nice to have a short walk to MARTA! We followed the MARTA sign right after we got our t-shirts, I can't remember the street name, but we reached a station within a couple of blocks. As an added bonus, there were hardly any people heading into the station (compared to the log jam we have had to deal with the last few years) and when we got to the platform, the train was sitting there waiting on us!! We were on MARTA heading north less than ten minutes after finishing the race! Sweet!
