I know it ain't trail and it ain't ultra unless you count ultra hot and ultra big.
Did anyone else have trouble getting in? I forgot to pick up the application on the Saturday it came out and it cost me. I mailed mine in that Sunday (which counts as Monday), but didn't get in.
I guess it is essentially a lottery now. Other than a few groups that get an early shot at registering, if you don't mail your application in the day before it officially comes out, you just get tossed into a pile that gets pulled at random. I assume that means that any application that came in after Tuesday was returned (unless they give out of state applicants their own set of numbers)
Anyway, pretty amazing that you can get 55,000 people fighting to get out early on a holiday in stifling heat and run together. There my just be hope for the world just yet.

And just where were you Tuesday night? We had leftover trail work day beer! ;D
I did not have any problems getting in...one of the lucky ones that gets their apps early. The out of towners go to a separate PO Box. Not to worry...there is ususally a few numbers floating around closer to Peachtree time that people are trying to get rid of!

I figured you'd complain more about the fact that I missed work day itself!
I had to go to Tallahassee for business and just got back last night.
I missed the Tuesday run here, but I ran an honorary one in Tallahassee on a trail that snaked through a forest full of sinkholes. Some of them were 100 feet deep, with cave systems underneath that run for miles. I actually started getting paranoid about getting sucked into the earth. Turned into a good speed workout.
Also, though I didn't see any good local Tallahassee beers, one of the restaurants I went to had 420 on tap, so I had an honorary beer as well.

Well, if I can get assurances from a certain ATC board member that giving you my daughter's bib number won't get me permanently banned from the PRR, I might have a number you can have.

Thanks for the offer, Spurgeon.
I think I'm actually going to spend this year on the sidelines. I'm not supposed to be running much anyway.
My wife and I will probably head down to her usual watching spot near W. Wesley. I'm sorta psyched to see the wheelchair and elite athletes zoom by.

BTW - that's a good spot to see most of the runners, but you'll be too near the start to see all of the folks that ride MARTA to the Arts Center station and run the last mile to earn their coveted t-shirt.

;D In an early PTRR i was recording times as part of the ATC. I witnessed a Classis run on the streets of Atlanta featuring Don Kardong, Lasse Viren, Bill Rogers and our own Jeff Galloway. ;D
This race was a tune up for the 1976 Olympics in Munich. I witnessed a classic race. Only seconds separated these great runners and only a f w feet separated these great runners at the finish. Maybe there were 70 in the run and Galye Barron was our Lady Champ.

ARRRRRGGHHHH!!!! Back of the pack again!!!!!! I just got my bibs in the mail today ... I'm in the 70,000's!! Dangit, dangit, dangit!!!
I was hoping since they had me in the 80,000's last year that they would have pity on me this year. I hate being back that far. By the time I'll get to the Moe's truck all of the t-shirts will be gone!

- $5 and 2 hours of your time will get you in Time Group 2 (or perhaps better if you're faster) for next year
- Good training for HTH also
- At least you've got a bib

I screwed up by not mailing my time in. I ran a 41:50 at the Resolution Run, and I listed it on the application, but I did the thing online and I didn't realize I had to mail it in. Initially I didn't want to be up in the first couple of groups anyway, because I thought I was running it with my daughters and my nephews ... but a number in the 40,000's would have been nice. I've been "randomly" stuck in the last couple of groups for the last several years. As it turns out, everybody is backing out on me this year, so now I'm wishing I would have submitted my time! Dangit!

For those of you who are interested, I live less than two miles from the start. I am also right across street from Brookhaven Marta station.
If anyone is interested in meeting me, I will probably run to the start from my place.
You can park your car in the complex.
I will try to remember to check my messages this time.

Thanks Kim, but right now I'm planning on running to the start from my house. I still haven't figured out how I'm getting home. Maybe I'll take MARTA to the Abernathy Station and run the rest of the way from there.
