<From the GUTS blog>
GUTS Trail Work Day & Training Run
Kennesaw Mountain
Saturday, May 10th @ 7:30 a.m.
First a nice run, then some fun, muscle building trail work, and finally good food at the GUTS cook-out. Meet at 7:30 a.m. at the visitor center for the run and hit the trails for as long as you want. GUTS will fuel you up with juice and bagels afterwards.
At 10:00 a.m., we’ll meet and park at the park Service area, up the hill to the right of the Visitor Center, past the superintendent's office for trail work. No need to bring anything except maybe your favorite work gloves or if you want to use your own tools, bring them along too. Plan to work 3 – 4 hours.
A cook-out will then take place at the home of the PREZ, directly after fixing up the trails. GUTS will supply food and drinks but please feel free to bring a dessert or side dish to share.
Please e-mail jaydene_reardon%yahoo.com with the subject line 'I'LL GIVE BACK' so we can buy enough grub for all.

To this I'd add, bring a hat and perhaps some rain gear. Also: Although this is, strictly speaking, an event for GUTS members, we won't turn away any workers. (But please do RSVP with Jaydene.)
To save time you may fill out and print the following form:
contacts.gsa.gov/webforms.nsf/0/37BABF24EBA30684862573A90059902A/$file/of301A.pdf
Normally you only fill out this form once ever, but since this is a new revision, I'd like to get "fresh" copies.
The planned work will be on the "Goat Trail" between Burnt Hickory Road NW and Whitlock Ave NW. We'll start work at the Whitlock Ave end and work our way north. The work will primarily be erosion control, tree branch trimming and brush clearing.
Donald
P.S. And "Yes, Virginia" there is a new trail planned in the future. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted when work actually starts on it. (Don't be holding you breath though, these things take LOTS of time...)
