Here's an FYI about an event I just heard about. (Maybe it's old news to everybody else) The Blue Planet Run is a relay run around the world to raise awareness about, and to raise money for, the world's drinking water problem. Their website says 1.1 billion people in the world do not have safe drining water and this leads to 2.2 million deaths a year. Anyway - here is the website about the run: blueplanetrun.org/Here's is the page that tells you ways you can participate, such as being a pacer, doing a 10 mile challenge, straight donations, etc blueplanetrun.org/runwithusThe 10 Mile Challenge can be done at the time and place of your choosing (and not even all at once). You post your time on their website. The cost is $50. They put your name in their event book, etc. You can purchase a t-shirt for $15 additional. blueplanetrun.org/challengeHere is a page about getting your running club involved, but it doesn't look like the actual route comes anywhere near Atlanta: blueplanetrun.org/partnerThe cost to be an actual pacer on the route is $100. They allow 1 or 2 pacers per 10 miles. You have to maintain an 8-9 minute pace. And of course, you get the all important t-shirt for free.

I just noticed that one of the official relay runners lives here in Atlanta. His name is Richard Johnson. Here is his bio page which also contains a link to his blog: blueplanetrun.org/run/richard
