For those who may have met fellow GUTS member Bob Kassow, i am very sorry to pass on the sad news of his death this past weekend. He died in an automobile accident, driving one of his beloved mini-sports cars.
Bob was a big barrel chested guy, with big lungs (he was a former world class biker), a big heart and big smile. He tended to lean to one side of the trail and knock you into the bushes, but he always happy to see his fellow GUTS runners and join in for a run. I can thank Bob for showing me the insides of the banana bridge before it was finished, instructing me how to fly downhill (although i am still no good compared to him), showing me a brand new baby doe on the side of the trail, letting us all know about a cool hawk's nest near the CCC field, and of course for being a geniune and caring friend. I will miss seeing him on the Kennesaw trails and joining us for our north GA trail runs.
Here is information regarding services this week: Jane and family will receive friends at Carmichael’s funeral home, 1130 Whitlock Ave. Marietta GA 30064, 5-8 pm Friday 12/8. Funeral services will be Saturday morning, 10:30 am, at the Acworth Ward building, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5055 Holt Rd, Acworth, GA 30101. Following the service, interment will be at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery, immediately north of Whitlock Ave., near Carmichael’s, and there will be a procession from the church to the gravesite.
Life is short, play hard.

Bob, I saw your birthday listed on the GUTS forum this morning and had to stop and think of who oldandslow is. We all miss seeing you on the trails at Kennesaw but know you are by our side (really close by our side ;D ) as we run out there. You still make us laugh. We'll run a few miles this week in your memory. Happy Birthday, Old Man!
