I signed up for Leadville 100 and am thinking about registering for Vermont 100. They are a month apart. Will my legs still be dead 4 weeks after Vermont or is that enough time to be able to recover for Leadville? I've done a 100, just not back-to-back 100s. And, I suppose the elevation out west is a killer for us lowlanders, right?

Sounds like a Janice question.
But I guess the first question will be, how did your legs handle the first 100 miler?

i'm not sure i could write all i think about the subject in this space, but i would start by saying that with the right training you could do it without issue.
the right training is subjective, but for me it would involve a lot of mileage, lots of long mountain runs that are back-to-back, and a couple long races leading up to the 100s. oh, and not getting injured
the altitude will slow you down some, but for most it shouldn't be a killer. i think too many lowlanders let the altitude psych them out. just be prepared to go a lot slower than you are used to when you are crossing Hope Pass at 12,500feet....

I would say absolutely not, no way, do not run Leadville a month after Vermont. It took me about 3 months after my last 100 a few years ago (Vermont) to feel like I was healed. Janice said it would take about 3 weeks Now you have both ends of the spectrum...one record holder, one cutoff pusher. Somewhere in between will be your reality And for the record, Vermont ain't flat!
