My only problem with the whole thing is that there is no provision for a substitute when somebody has paid and can't make the race. Surely this is a relatively small hurdle that the RD could overcome to everyone's satisfaction. A waiting list would be easy to incorporate to help those who wish to run but were late and those who, for whatever reason, have paid and are unable to attend. Additionally, if someone were to give their number to someone else, surely a revision at the check-in table would not be difficult. That person could easily sign the waiver paperwork and change the name at the table. It would encourage honesty and good feelings all the way around. What I don't like is the mindset of "the race is closed and that 's it until next year", with absolutely no flexibility. It does not have to be that way. Just my 2 cents.

Janice is right though guys - it can mess things up something awful. Should there be a wait list for a popular race? it would be nice, but then again I am not the one putting on a race and therefore I dont have to manage a wait list, which is probably not easy. Remember, most of these races, especially trails and ultras, are low key events with no major support, put on by people who just love to run through the woods - a big "thanks, Ill be sure to sign up early next year" will get you far. Do what I do when I miss out on a race for some reason - go for a really nice long run on some favorite terrain instead. As they say, its all good.....

Does anyone know if Becky is allowing number transx at TW? I'm not going to be able to make it so I'll have a number if anyone is interested. jb

I am also looking for a spot. I called the race director and she said I was out of luck - no give and take whatsoever, and no waiting list. Johnny, according to Kraaken's post, it sounds like they don't allow transfers. See also Janice's post above.

The weather was great- tough course - at least for me- but beautiful spot. People from all over the country and at least one from Cayman Island were there. Looking forward to finding another one like this one in late June or early July. Any suggestions?

Yes, it was just beautiful out there Saturday, I really love this race. I'm glad it wasn't as hot as last year! Good job all around by Becky and all the volunteers.
