[glow=red,2,300] Ok, more questions from The Rook.[/glow] What sort of aid stations will there be? How far apart. Trying to plan for how much hydration I'll need to carry (and train carrying). As well as food, salt, gels, etc. Anyone want to share there experience from last year? Also, is this on a trail? roads? combo?

Are you talking about the Atlanta FA 50k or some other FA 50K? Atlanta is a 4 loop course all on trail. One aid station fully stocked.

if it is ATL FA, then only one station per loop(7.5miles), although a water fountain is available halfway thru the loop. the aid station will have lots of food- cold and hot, and bathrooms. there will be gels and bars, but bring your own salt tabs. we will have some anti-inflammatories, but bring your fav
all trail
all good

I also had questions about this run... if I've been running on roads (but I have covered the distance), is moving over to the trails and being able to comple this in a month realistic?
I'm a newbie, as you might be able to tell.
How will my road times convert to this trail run?
Thanks for any help.

It's hard to tell how a newbie will react, some are like a fish in water, others are like a fish....you get the point. i think it is realistic. you should join us for a couple of training runs on the course - next tuesday, dec 5, 6pm and sunday, dec 17, 8am. it might assuage your fears of the trail. suggestions: take the 1st loop very easy and see how you feel. save it for later. eat and drink early. don't get lost, run with a veteran. don't fall down, it hurts. you will be slower on trail. hard to say, since you are a newbie, but maybe 1 minute per mile or so.

wuhl....you can show up on run day and register. OR if you are a GUTS member then i will send you an info form i guess some of this needs expaining. The FA has really grown in popularity. In an effort to make sure we have no issues with uh certain agencies, we were trying to limit numbers at FA and therefore letting members in on the scoop, but making it a little harder for non-members. soooo email at getguts@hotmail.com for more info if you aren't a current member.
Plz note the run is FREE for members, but $10 for non-members. Membership is $15 for the year.

Bringing your cash to the FA50K works just fine. We are likely to have many folks join or renew at the run. We're pretty flexible like that.

G.E. & I are running at tomorrow (Thursday) morning. Any chance someone can either post or email me a map of the FA 50km loop TODAY (Wednesday 12.27.06), or at least describe it well enough for a neophyte to follow? My email: 2crabs at onin.com. Thanks - Will

Many thanks to richcheese for showing us the ‘loop’. It was a beautiful morning to run. I can only hope the weather is as good next Sunday.

A few days ago I was thinking about starting an hour or two early for the FA.
Now I'm thinking "Would 24 hours be too many?!?" ;D

I actually showed up 24 hours early. I got up Saturday at 6:00 AM, drove to Kennesaw, and pulled up in Janice's driveway, only to realize that I was there on the wrong day. I just assumed it was on Saturday and never bothered to actually check the date. I hate getting up early on weekends. Oh well

The FA50K was my 2nd GUTS event but 1st time as a member. Thanks to all the people who gave up the day as running and became a valuable volunteer. Janice, you have a great course right in your "backyard"!
