SATURDAY - OCTOBER 10, 2015 in Franklin, NC @ 8am
Ready to see the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina in Fall....not from a car window? Come explore the same trails that William Bartram, "The Naturalist", ventured on in the late 1700's. This ultimate 25 / 50k will cover some of the most challenging ground in the Southeast. Runners will leave from downtown Franklin, NC at 8am and run to the Wallace Branch trailhead on the Bartram Trail. Here runners will start the brutal climb that ultimately leads to Wayah Bald. From the Wallace Branch trail head to the top of Wayah Bald is aproximately 11.5 miles where the 25k will end at an elevation of 5342'. All 50k participants will resupply on Wayah Bald and then continue back down the Bartram Trail into Franklin where the race will end. The 25k willl have over 7000' of climbing and the 50k will have over 10,500' of climbing, making your legs feel weak just reading this. There will three stations with food and water. Make sure you grab a t-shirt as you cross the finish line located on the square in downtown Franklin....you just earned a spot in the "I'm Incredible" book! Head back in to Outdoor 76 where there will be live music all afternoon, visit with representatives from Stone Brewery (Escondido, California)...Unknown Brewing (Charlotte, NC)....& Dogfish Brewery (Milton, Delaware) and grab a pint in celebration of your completion of one of the toughest runs in the southeast!!
