Hi All,
I am looking at some land in North Georgia, primarily not too far away (Elijay/Blue Ridge Area) to be able to visit on weekends. Does anyone know the area well enough to offer recommendation. I found one area that is surrounded by a huge green belt and decent running trails but it is very expensive.
Thanks,
Malcolm

Malcolm, I don't know much about that area, but we ran the Blue Ridge Mountain masters 50K up there and it is beautiful! The race started near Noontootla Creek Farms. They have a website that you can check out to see where that is in relation to where you are looking. Their site: www.ncfga.com/Directions to the farm: www.ncfga.com/directions.htm

What's your dollar range so that we can offer up only those that meet your Financial needs?

Thanks for the replies.
As far as how much I am looking to spend...it depends. The one property I am looking at is just land, so obviously the full cost of having a 2nd residence on the plot will add a significant amount to the price. The land is going for about $50K per acre with a min. 3 acres plot. The market is very soft right now so a year from now may be a better time to buy.
The problem is finding an area that has enough 'Greenbelt' around it, to avoid becoming a little city. Also, my wife really wants to feel safe yet remote as far as being away from ATL. We would like all this to be within an hour and a half from East Cobb!
If the right property came on the market with a cabin already built and 'felt right' as far as development (lack off) and solitude, I would be interested. I don't run as many miles as most of you guys, but I would like to get in runs off 15-20 miles on the weekends on trails.
Thanks for any assistance. Sorry for my long response.
Cheers,
MC

Malcolm,
I have started research in N Ga/Blue Ridge area for a couple friends, as well as myself, who also want to buy either land and/or a cabin. I am a realtor Intown and have been so swamped with biz in the city that I haven't made it up there yet. I would like to take a couple days during the holidays to check some areas out. If you'd like I can give you a call and let you know my findings. BTW, it is a soft market for sellers which makes now the absolute best time to buy. There is a lot of inventory up all around N Ga which means many of the sellers are either priced right or willing to negotiate. In a year or two from now prices should go up. Sandy

If you are looking for the best place to be, Blue Ridge area is great. Jen and I have a little cabin on a few acres way back in the woods just 6 miles from the start of the AT. The area we are in is great for trail running, and super great for training on the bike in hills/mountains/. We have had the place about a year and a half and love it- writing this from the cabin now to be exact! Anyway, the actual investment issue is null- the investment is not an investment now, just a weekend place that is not flipable until the market solidifies once again. So do not expect to make any green, just enjoy the greenery.
