Hey guys, I have a question and I need to call upon the vast knowledge that resides in the minds of the elite around here.
This weekend when I was running at Kennesaw I seemed to step on every sharp rock with the ball of my right foot. It actually was getting a little tender there during the Pumpkin Butt. By the end of Saturday's run the ball of the foot seemed to be swollen and semi-painful. I ran on it again yesterday and it did not bother me during the run, but later that night it was really sore and swollen. I held both of my feet up so my daughter could tell me if it really was swollen. I thought maybe it just "felt" swollen. She said it is visibly swollen. It kind of feels like I have a gel pad, that is about an inch and a half in diameter, stuck under the padding of the foot.
So my question is: Should I continue running on it? Like I said, I can feel it when I run but it is not a sharp pain. My philosophy has always been that I run with soreness and rest a sharp pain. This is kinda in the middle.
I ws just wondering if anybody had any experience with this. Is it a bone bruise maybe?
My running plan for the next few weeks was to put in about 65 miles this week (including the 31 @ BRMM) and then go up to 70 for the next couple of weeks before dropping to 55 or 60 for week after Thanksgiving, and then 50 the week of the Rocket City Marathon (including the 26.2).

a few easy miles never hurts but the hills of Blue Ridge are awaiting ;D a super STAR knows when to taper if you r in pain then maybe Taper is what you need till later. wuss is when you crash and cant git it up to finish the run.

I'd check out more info on: Metatarsals Morton’s neuroma Crap. Morton's sounds like, "rest your foot or it falls off". That would be just my luck. Maybe I need to start carrying duck tape with me when I run, just in case I have to reattach my foot to finish a race. I think I'm going to take it one day at a time. I've got an off day coming on Friday. And I could do a three week taper for Rocket City. I had planned on only two. How can I complain about running with a lump on the ball of my foot when Sally ran on a foot that looked like an eggplant?!?! ;D
