Hi fellow runners, I did 2 training runs this weekend in the Smokey Mts that some might enjoy. If you are looking for some great ridge runs, I recommend Newfound Gap to Mt Le Conte (round trip, 16 mi) and Newfound Gap to Clingmans (round trip, 17 miles). Both runs have mostly runnable surfaces and are well marked. The advantage of these runs are that they stay at altitude (5-6.5k ft) and have enough up and downs to be challanging. I usaually run with a small pack with enough supplies and extra cloths for weather events (Clingman Dome is the highest point in the AT). These were my last tough runs before Le Grizz 50, Oct 13 in Montana. There are many hotel options, Bed and Breakfast and camping. I stayed at a B&B in Bryson City.

Thanks Mike. That's one of my favorite parts of the world but I haven't been there in years.
