Did anyone run this last year? I am doing the 50 Miler (my first at this distance). Any recommendations on loding the night before? How was the course set-up for spectators? The race guide says there is no parking at the start/finish; so shuttles will bring runners/spectators from Callaway. If my family were to come down early, would they be able to move around the course to see me or should I have them plan to come down later in the afternoon near my expected finish time? Thank!

I ran it last year, my family and I stayed at the campground at FDR state park the night before and night after ( we have a small vintage camper). If your spectators are familiar with the Pine mountain Trail system there is great opportunity for them to hop aid stations to see you.

I did the 50K last year. 1) I drove down on the morning of the race. It was 2 hours from Suwanee. 2) Auburn has a home game that weekend so hotels might be scarce in LaGrange. Your best bet might be staying at Callaway Gardens if you decide on staying down there. There were plenty of school buses shuttling runners/family from the beach to the race village so that was not an issue. 2) To me, The course was not really meant for spectators. I would recommend they just hang out at the race village around your expected finish time. Maybe they will get to meet Dean Karnazes.
