I thought I would throw out a race report, as this was my first race since crashing and burning at Pine Mountain last December. The race was nice. The support was minimal, but adequate. (Of course nothing compares to the superior events GUTS puts on.) Anyway, since Pine Mountain was my last race, I feel compelled to compare the two. Obviously the distance difference goes without saying...allmost. The trails were nice, narrow, and well marked. This course was a lot more wooded. I think most of it was Boy Scout trails that are little used, but well beat down and well marked for the race. Even though the trails were very narrow most of the way, and very curvy, (walking trails following the path of least resistance it seemed) it was a little more difficult to really open up the pace and let'er'rip. Having said that, the trails themselves were nothing at all close to Pine Mountain in the technical aspect as well as elevation gain. I would do this race again. It was fun and a good training run on little used trails.
