Y'all let me know if this is a good idea. A lot of GUTS runners are asking in their posts on how to train or handle heat, altitude, hills, multi-day depression, food, blisters, potty, spouse, on and on, or other various factors of Ultrarunning to prepare us for the runs we do. Basically how to train and prepare. We ALL really do have our SECRETS. Experienced Ultrarunners do have secret ways to train that prepare them for the runs. We all will be as good as our genetics allow us to be, but wouldn't it be nice to know that we could be close to our best in every race we run and in life??? All of the Secret Training Techniques I use will not work for everyone and yours may not work for me, but I propose we share and we may get the VOGELS to a finish in the Key 100 Mile heat and it will be heat and traffic. When I lived on the FARM, I didn't have smart folks like y'all to run with, just mostly critters, which was a blessing, then. The good Lord knows and most everyone else in the Universe knows, I'm just trying to run with y'all. Anyway, INTRO over to the Secret Personal Training Techniques. New post for SECRET Personal HEAT Training Techniques, if I don't have too many COORS, so temper your read Just Testing.

Ok my sharing for Personal HEAT training Techniques. I actually use these and they work for me. These techniques are brutal but work. The basic idea is to stress the heat capabilities of your body over and over until your body adapts. There will be many levels to go through to adapt to the level or run you wish. RUN IN THE HEAT OF THE DAYPlan your training runs in the hottest part of the day. You may not be able to run as far at first or as fast and may get sick , but trust your adaptation. (Step One) DRESS HEAVILY AS IF WINTER After you are able to take 5 miles or more in the heat of the day, without too many clothes, start adding your Winter dress, like gloves, layers, jackets as if was freezing out. I know folks will think you are crazy, but you are training and adapting to HEAT. (Step Two) AN ALTERNATIVE TO WINTER DRESS IS OILThis will really help with HEAT adaptation. Coat all your body in a high quality Suntan Oil, not cream, oil. Pretend you are a chicken being baked on a grill. I know this could sound SEXY, but really is a Secret Training method I use. The oil will block your sweat so your body will overheat, so your mind needs to adapt to the stress also, as your body will. (Step Three) TRY TO RUN UP TO 20 MILES IN THE HEAT OF THE DAY WITH OIL ON JUST USING MINIMAL WATERThe goal here is to run the 20 miles coated in oil in the heat of the day stressed out with heat with no water. I could only make it to 15 miles, so its a tough training technique. (Step four) STEAM BATHS AFTER AFTER A 20-30 MILE RUNYou can use this Secret Training Technique any time of the year. After that long run sit in a steam bath 2 - 3 times a week for 20 minutes. Don't start at 20 minutes, it's tough, no water. Start at 5 -7 minutes. I suggest you give up booze for the training period and run, but I fudge some. OK I'm ready for Summer training.

;D This weekend will be a challenge to train. ;D
Austin Hyatt is pitching for AL Crimson Tide and Don his dad has invited me to go to Tuscalula to watch. Jared Hyatt is pitching for the Bakersfield Blaze a FARM team for the Texas Rangers. Don lives on North St Marys Lane near the PREZ and recently lost his wife to breast cancer. I grew up with Don and his family, we are sorrta like family. Jan his wife said I should take care of Don till we both pass on.
Jan was precious. So I may not train this weekend.
I'll be back soon.
