Can anyone share some info about the route of the Sweet H2O? I'm planning to run about 10-15 miles there the next couple of saturday mornings and would like to know which direction and order of trails the race follows if possible. If anyone wants to join me I'll probably be averaging a 10-12min/mile pace if we run 13+ miles. I'll plan to get there around 8:15ish and start running around 8:30. Although I've never been there before so need some suggestion about where to park and start too. Thanks!!

DISCLAIMERS: Gaslines, Top of the World, Factory Shoals Middle School & Powerlines are outside the park and not to be accessed except on race day! They are private property and dangerous areas! I do not recommend crossing Sweetwater Creek unless there is a bridge...special precautions (ropes & trained rescuers) are taken so we can do this on race day. Training runs are pretty much limited to running the Red & White Trails clockwise. gastateparks.org/net/go/parks.aspx?locationid=80&show=mapThe start of the race is at the Group Shelter... Last year's course... 1st loop Head west on Factory Shoals Road Head north on Mount Vernon Road Right turn at picnic/parking area just before leaving the park (north of George H. Sparks Reservoir) Unmapped trails (with drainage culvert crossing) to get to Yellow trail at the bridge crossing across from the Firing Range (Note: the bridge is gone now) Yellow Trail-do not cross Sweetwater Creek this time Red Trail White Trail The course leaves the park to head to Gaslines, Top of the World, Factory Shoals Middle School & Powerlines - PRIVATE PROPERTY!! Return to White Trail & run back to Group Shelter 2nd loop-same as the first but add even more sun/heat and the crossing of Sweetwater Creek to run the yellow trail counterclockwise The finish sequence... Make a right turn just before the Group Shelter and head north to Factory Shoals Road Head west on Factory Shoals Road and approach the Group Shelter from the north...I think there were stairs but it is all hazy Cross finish line, shake RD's hand and be glad it is over...

I just want to add - the SweetH20 50K is the same weekend as the Sweetwater 420 Earth Day Fest (get it? Earth Day = April 20 = 4/20 = Sweetwater 420. Har har) in Candler Park, which happens to be my neighborhood. It's a great festival that starts Friday and ends Sunday. Now, of course if you're running the SweetH20 then you have to abstain from the 420 and get a good night's rest. But, AFTER the race you can wear your SweetH20 shirt to the Sweetwater Fest and have some 420 and listen to good music. And if I DO run the race then by then end, if we've met, you can stop by my house to grab a burger and use the facilities (rather than festival Happy Cans) because I live 2 houses away from the park! sweetwater420fest.com/

OK, I just have to speak for myself then! But, the offer of my house to any runners I meet still stands!

Much thanks for the info a above! Much thanks for the info above!! If anyone wants to join me this Saturday let me know here or email at rpink729@yahoo.com. (if I'm runnin solo I may be flexible on my start time.) Sabby, I emailed you but must of had the address wrong. Also, can anyone compare the H2O to the GRR 50k? That was my first ultra. I'm wondering if there may be less mud at H2O!?! Also, can anyone give a comparison of the H2O to the GRR 50k? That was my first ultra. I guessing H2O may have less mud!?!

Sabby. Don't count on all the runners teetotaling the night before Yeah, those Rogue Runners, they sure do drink a lot. Don't get me wrong, I lurve beer. But from experience I've learned that if I drink the night before a long run I feel like I'm going into cardiac arrest for the first hour. So now I save it for after! ;D

The elivation chart for H2o shows a big decline and climb in mile 9. It does not show it again in mile 24 when it seems to follow the same trail. Anyone know why and what to expect? Thanks!!

I often prefer to not know what a course is like and love the surprise. Hell, if you run one loop and go out for a second you pretty much know what it's going to be like Just sayin
