Spring Break is here... My kids are at the beach...My office is closed... Time to go do some Mnt runs.... Figure I'll start between 8 & 8:30 am Tuesday April 6 from Park HQ and run Christian's fabled "meat grinder" and maybe a bit further.... If anybody wants to come along drop me a face book, or guts forum message or give me a call 678.761.3284 Dan B

If I didn't have to sign for some empty shipping containers in the morning I'd be there.

Wish I'd seen this post earlier. BTW what's the "Meat Grinder"? I'm not familiar (I have done the AT approach trail).

The "meat grinder" is simply Christian's nickname for the AT approach trail so they are 1 and the same...start at the Visitor's Center.

"Meat Grinder" lived up to it's name yesterday..... it ground me up and almost did not spit me out!!!! It was hot, with a spattering of shade..... Lots of hikers...... a few wild turkeys and loads of squirrels... oh and a few hills Made it a couple of miles past Springer and back to the Falls.....

One of these days I'll go beyond Springer but hydration/fluids limit me...will have to probably fill up at water sources along the trail....good job Dan!

I did the approach trail today, lots of bugs at Springer. You're ok if you keep moving, which is a little tough if you want to take in the view while you sit and eat a sandwich. Put repellent on your list if you plan on making this run. Oh and it's super rocky (wet) past Springer (I only ran a half hour past the BMT)
