I've noticed that registration is still open for the SweetH20, but I haven't seen anything about the status of the race or re-routing (e.g., no army bridge, etc) for race. I've done a couple of training runs out there recently and it looks like nothing has been done since the floods wrecked the park.
Does anyone know anything? Christian?

I heard same route this a.m......which would make for a couple of extra water crossings!

2 water crossings - one where the bridge was, and another down by the falls. See you guys there, I'll be at packet-pickup Friday and/or Saturday, and somewhere out along the course for the race itself.

Sounds like fun! Hopefully they will figure out how to prevent the long delays at the river crossings like we had last year.

That's easy enough. Just be first.

Sounds like fun! Hopefully they will figure out how to prevent the long delays at the river crossings like we had last year. i think it will depend on how high the water is. from what i understood last year (or at least what i read into the situation), it was a safety issue of not wanting more than one person in the water at a time. i think by race time, the water had receded a bit and it probably would have been ok, its still better to be safe than sorry.

That's easy enough. Just be first. True dat. Last year the folks who were only 5 min, or less, ahead of me had zero wait, and by the time I got there the wait was 25 min. ... its still better to be safe than sorry. I agree 100%.

Per the infamous JB in regards to the river crossing - The "creek" crossing will differ in that there will be the 2 ropes, the original, then an added "catch" rope just down stream from the first for a "go as you please" crossing next yr. This will alleviate any wait to cross. Just remember, if we get a lot of rain in the next few weeks, the water may be quite swift. The water level was up at the half last month and the rapids were pretty spectacular. Check the SweetH2O page on Facebook or the website for any updates. www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#!/group.php?gid=52452447887 www.sweeth20races.com/

This is my first year running SweetH20. I kinda assumed the creek crossings were pretty simple. But clearly we know what happens when you assume...
Any tips from y'all on how I should approach them for better results? For instance... not sure around what mile they occur, should I get out faster at some point to try and get around crowds and avoid a 25 min wait for the guide rope? My creek crossing experience is limited to shin high situations... with this should you charge through, walk, swim? The pictures from last year look like people are doing all the above!

Hey ledawg,
Last year was my 1st H20 and my experience (as a back of the packer) was a 55 minute wait to cross the creek but it looks like they're trying to alleviate that this year with 2-ropes and no '1-at a time' restriction like we had last year (of course if the current is very swift that could change). The crossing was @ approx. 19 miles last year but I'm not sure if that will be different this time...also seems like from previous posts there will be 2-rope assisted crossings. I wouldn't worry much about busting it to avoid crowds. As far as crossing itself you can't really charge it, and I wouldn't try to swim it (the current will carry you downstream)...just get a good hold (both hands) on the rope and walk strongly across...it was about mid-chest high water last year and the current was pretty swift but I didn't see anybody get totally swept off the rope. No worries, you'll do just fine...it's TOTW/power lines that will kick your a$$, not the creek crossings!
Good luck..see you out there, Charles
