THANKS!

You are throwing us all in a tail-spin talking about road races For full coverage of asphalt-slap'in races, you can check www.atlantatrackclub.org/calendar/at01010.htmThe Snickers one is flat and fast they say. Now, if you aren't into torturing yourself on roads, check out the GUTS calendar and come out have some fun even if you have to add a couple of extra miles. www.getguts.com/events.shtml

The Snickers Energy Bar Marathon/Half is in Albany, GA on March 6 (http://www.albanymarathon.com/). The Berry Half Marathon is in Rome, GA, also on March 6 (http://www.berryhalfmarathon.com/). They are both flatter/faster than ING. Rome, obviously, is closer than Albany. The best site to look for marathons is marathonguide.com . They have a national map that will show you where races are in a given month or a span of months.

haha. how funny - no, NO roads; I want trails.I only suggested the ING b.c that is the only one i could find... I want trails & anywhere in the southeast.
And, as another addendum - it caninclude longer or shorter races, but preferably nothing as short as a 10k.
So sorry for the confusion!!! trails, trails

oh sorry 1 more addendum & then I will stop - yeah I am hoping for a marathon or something - some great trail run somewhere that maybe is not on a list - or someone has a favorite that they recommend on trails...
I have a bunch of runs in April & may, but none in march...

Trail Runner Magazine has a race calendar that might help your search: www.trailrunnermag.com/racecalendar.php?page=3The American Trail Runner Association has one too: www.trailrunner.com/calendar/2010_calendar.htm#MarchI noticed the ATRA site lists a trail marathon in Louisiana on the 13th. There is also a 12 Hour run that same day in Alabama (Delano Park). Several GUTS folks will be at that one. It is listed as "trail" but it is more like a "path". It's the same type of surface as they have on the path at the Chattahoochee (between Columns Drive and Powers Ferry).

Rock Creek has the River Gorge race on March 27. It is a 10.2 and 6.5 mile trail race. Lots of fun and Rock Creek does a great job. I am going to do the 10.2 mile race and I am looking for folks to go up with me. Here is their WEB link. www.rockcreek.com/rivergorge/

The 2009 Snickers Marathon in Albany was my very first full marathon and I'd recommend it to anyone. The volunteers along the course actually outnumber the runners. The Albany community really comes together to make this a memorable event. After I ran it, a free entry to the street festival (ice cream, funnel cakes, etc.) was included.

Hey Sara, Another option is the Delano Park 12 hour in Decatur AL on March 13...it's on an unpaved/flat trail in a city park - they also have a 50-mile chip-timed option - I plan to do both (get my 50 mile time and then continue to add a few more miles to get to 12 hours); but with a timed event you have the option of doing as much as you want. There are a few other GUTS folks registered to do it as well so we'll have some company! Good luck Charles
