My wife and I are going to Asheville and we need some good trails to run. Any suggestions? We are already familiar with Bent Creek and the Shut in Ridge Trail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated ;D

Not sure when you're going, but if the Blue Ridge Parkway is open (closed for much of the winter), you can experience some great high elevation trails in the Shining Rock Wilderness to the SW of Asheville. There are many trail to choose from -- Art Loeb, Ivestor Gap, Flat Laurel Creek, Sam Knob, etc. Many of them provide nearly constant 360 degree views...sort of an above treeline experience even though there's technically no treeline in the Southern Apps. Very cool place to run.

And, if you want to head Northeast out of Asheville towards Black Mountain - there are many trails there; lots of elevation. You can start at Montreat College and make loops. But, I have heard that area is covered under a foot of snow... that area has really been hit with snow storms... Yeah, I second running in the Shining Rock Wilderness - really amazing! Or, south of Asheville - you can do Cold Mountain, which I think connects or has views of Shining Rock. - www.highcountrywebcams.com/webcameras_ShiningRock.htm - lots of snow there too.

There is currently a ton of snow in the mountains around Asheville. The reported snow depth at Mt Mitchell is an amazing 44 inches!! It will certainly make the Mt Mitchell Challenge more interesting in 1.5 weeks.

Thanks for all the great trails. We are planning on going the last weekend of April. Maybe the bulk for the snow will burn off by then.
