I usually run at Chastain Park in the evenings after work but I was close to home last night so I decided to drop in at the Kennesaw mtn for a short run. I parked in an office park on Kennesaw Ave and headed up the mountain. I decided to run the road up the mtn but was stopped by a park ranger on the way back down and chastised for being out there after dark. I know a lot of people run at Kennesaw after dark. On the weekends, I usually run at the mtn when there is light out. If I run at night again, do just need to stay away from the first section of the park? Has anyone else been stopped before.

Yes be careful, there are Laws. I used to train there at night also, but was very selective. Stay on the secluded sections and apologize if they catch you, because they will start watch at night and may seclude running there. The police also watch at night on the roads because there have been robberies in the surrounding homes. You may also run across devil worshiper's and homeless sometimes. Just my experience.

Thanks. I was extremely polite, so he was very nice about it (except when I accidently shined my headlamp in his face). He even asked what kind of car I was driving just so he could make sure I made out safe. I probably won't do it again but if I do, I will go to the other sections.

Hmmm. I've run into para-military folks but I haven't met the devil worshipers. Now there's all that much more motivation to increase my running time. A real hoot might be to meet the devil worshipers and the para-military folks at the same time. I might even make the local news if that happened!
Once, I did run into a surprised deer while running in the pre-dawn at Kennesaw. Those dainty little critters can be quite intimidating when they lower their head and you're within a few inches of hitting them. I instantaneously came up with a name for her. It may have been an Irish name because it started with 'O' but the second syllable, I'm ashamed to say, was not 'Shay'. We passed without an

It may have been an Irish name because it started with 'O' but the second syllable, I'm ashamed to say, was not 'Shay'. We passed without an I had a smack down with a possum on Kolb loop. It wasn't pretty. It was pissed. I was scared. Darn thing refused to yield the trail. It yelled, I yelled. We finally edged around each other and continued on our respective ways. JT
