i have to say this...... I ran all of terri's races this year. I have run alot of races since I started running 1 year ago. Ive run in new zealand, BC, oregon and all over the south. And I can say that without a doubt that Terri's races are my favorite. I have never come across better stocked aid stations and such a laid back enviroment! Each race is completely different than the other. Buncombe is a really fun quick 34 miler. Chatooga was very technical and challenging. lynch's woods is very fast yet fun trails. I am really excited to run the 2 new races she has and I hope to be there for all of the races this coming year as well.
seriously people come to these races. they are donation only so theres no $80 race fee! give what you feel is reasonable!
Terri is awesome! that is all

So you would say Lynch's Woods would be a good first 24 hour race?

I think Hinson Lake would be an easier 24 hour race as it is a 1 1/4 mile loop and not technical. Lynch's woods is not much harder, but I think all the switchbacks are going to be very confusing when it gets dark. Either would be a good first 24 hour race and both are cheap as Hinson costs $20 or 25 and Lynch's is a donation race and should cost less than $50.

That one looks great but is later in the year. Know of any 8 to 12 hour races that are earlier in the year (with a relatively easy course)?

The Delano Park 12-hr is coming up on March 13th in Decatur, Al. One mile essentially flat gravel path loop through a city park. Kind of cold and very wet last year, but a great race. Low key, low cost and well run. Plus it's chipped timed, so you get to see all of your lap splits afterwards and relive how your performance steadily decayed throughout the day . www.delano12.com

I've been considering the Delano but man.........that is a LOT of 1 mile loops! Is the course interesting enough to keep boredom at bay? Hot to Trot is at least a great woody loop......

Not really. Think of it as mental toughness training. Or, as my wife would suggest, bring a straw and a ladder with you to the race. That way you can either suck it up or get over it. In other words HTFU ;D.

Is the Woods Ferry 24 hour still on? It was originally scheduled for this weekend (4/17) but it's been taken off of Terri's site.

As far as I know, it's still on. I have a few friends who are running it, and I haven't heard from them that they have changed their plans. If that helps any.

I just got an e-mail from Terri and the 24-hour run is still going to take place April 17-18. She said she had to take off the info from her website but sent out the info in an e-mail last week.
If you did not get it please e-mail her at ultraterri@bellsouth.net. Terri also said that she has had some cancellations so anyone else interested to please send her an e-mail.
(Location: Broad River in Woods Ferry Rec. Area - located in Sumpter National Forest.)
