I'm running the 50 mile for the 2nd time this year. My wife is revisiting the 50k. Is anyone else going to be there? I see the course record holder is going to be there for the first time since setting the course record of 5:14:40. It was a world record when he set it... ...in 1982. I'm looking forward to being beaten by a 65 year old that apparently doesn't know when to quit. Kevin

I'm currently planning on doing the 50k, although seriously undertrained. I just love the course. And you can get in the COLD springs after. I hear there were manatees last year. I hope we're that lucky!! Tallahassee Ultra

My daughter went on the tour and saw the manatees. The only one I saw is on the finishers plaque. After my little 9 hour jaunt someone recommended a dip in the lake for it's rejuvinating qualities. I stood there, knee deep, by myself, with tourists looking at me funny from the dock. One asking if I was OK. I wondered if I had been had. Good to hear it was a real suggestion and not a cruel joke on a newbie! Maybe I'll improve my time this year so I can jump in when I'm not the only one left around to do it! Maybe I should learn to be less self conscious. Look forward to meeting you, Sarah... ...and meeting you and meeting you and meeting you. If your luck is bad enough, we could cross paths as many as 15 times on the out and back portion of the loop! Kevin

The year I got in the springs, there was a tour boat going out. I could hear them all talking about me, as they huddled together in heavy coats

No swim in the lake this year. I could have used an oar on the run, though! Race report here... tinyurl.com/y9me5n8Kevin

it was quite a run! I think the volunteers had it worse than the runners though!

Congratulations, Susan. Your time suggests that you appeared to be unaffected by the weather. Nice job to tough out a well earned victory!

Thanks- I was 5 minutes off my 50 mile PR (from there in 2007!)...but still happy for the sub 8 hour finish. You ran a fast 50K!

Yep, I went out on a 50 mile run and settled for a 50k PR. Maybe went out a bit to fast? It was fun to see how far I could go before depleting myself. If the weather hadn't been so bad I might have stuck it out for the 50 miles but it wouldn't have been pretty and you probably would have reeled me in.
