An idea I saw and am taking part in on another forum sparked a thought for me. I am dropping the idea here for ideas or help in getting pointed in the general right direction as I know there is some AWESOME experience in setting up races/events here and I am in need of some mentoring. Anyway...
The idea is to run 9.11 miles on 9/11 in remembrance this Friday.
This in my head, turned to two years from now when the 10th anniversary rolls around (which just so happens to fall on a Sunday) setting up an event in which 91.1 miles are run in remembrance. To broaden the spectrum of potential runners it could be opened up for individual or 5 person teams (like DWD) to do.
If there were a way to have any proceeds go to an actual org that assists the families directly affected by the 9/11 events that would be awesome too.
As far as logistically it makes best sense (expense and volunteer wise) to have the course on a loop...however I think a PTP or out and back would be awesome...maybe an out and back on the AT??
These are just thoughts and in all reality I am doing nothing more than screaming for insight!!! Thanks in advance!
