I am sure some folks have GPS from previous years.
If you meet a bear...it will most likely run in the opposite direction. but if it doesn't slowly back away. Don't run!

Membership is only $15 for the year. It gets you a $5 discount at any of our races. We typically have 1 or more training runs on the weekends thru-out the year. Pumpkin butt for members is tomorrow. A group is going to Amicalola sunday (7:30 top of the falls parking lot).
If you join Nov 1st or later, the membership is good thru next year.
Btw, we also meet on tuesday and thursdays for trail runs too.

Thanks volunteers, without you it wouldn't have happened! A special thanks to those volunteers who also supported us timing volunteers (we who were "tied" to their equipment). And many GUTS points to Ray, who was the last person working to pack up and very likely also unloaded the truck! Found: A pair of shoes and socks. "N" brand. Stinky, so if you don't claim 'em they're hitting the curb Thursday. Thank you Donald for helping all day at the timing table; really apprecaited your assistance. Even if you did occasionally stand in front of the antennas

OK, so we got rained and lightning-ed out in May so we are re-grouping for another relay NEXT week
Next Thursday - July 28 GUTS relay at Lovett track (google Lovett for directions-it is just inside 285 off paces ferry rd and cobb pkwy).
6pm.
We will have teams of 2 people each, with 10K total per team. Should be a lot of fun. We will try and organize teams so they are "evenly" paced. PLEASE no SANDBAGGING if I ask how fast you run :-)

Yes, we will be running at Lovett High School, which is on paces ferry in Vinnings (also has an entrance on Cobb Pkwy/Northside Drive).
The track is next to the river in the middle of campus. You can see it from the bridge
cya then!

You could try MUST Ministries in Marietta. They have a shelter there and are always looking for volunteers.
ATC race would be fun too. ;D

I know it is early, but I am thinking about volunteering to help at Pinhoti. Will GUTS have an aid station this year? Thanks, John in Cartersville thanks for the reminder! yes, we were planning to have the GUTS aid stations again this year. We have manned AS 4 (23miles) and 14 (75miles-top of Pinnacle) the last 2 years. AS14 really requires 4-wheel drive to get to and is an over-night location (open=5pm; close=4:13am). We can switch to AS10 (55miles-Adams gap), if no one wants to man the Pinnacle. But it is a uniqure location. Please let me know if you are interested. Best to email at getguts@hotmail.com with subject "Pinhoti volunteer" thanks!

i still can't find Hogpen results and that was January I think results taking over a week or so is long these days From an RD perspective, the biggest challenge i have faced on getting the results out fast are in validatiing the results and correcting/researching any discrepencies between the timing equipment and the manual timing information. Sometimes this can take many hours if there are a lot of discrepencies or if they are complicated (ie imagine sorting thru several hundred smelly finishers cards and manually comparing them to spreadsheets and hand-written finish sheets). Not that GUTS has this issue but i can see that if the race did not have timing equipment and was hand-writing everything, then that would certainly add several hours time to enter the times into the computer and then validate them. i'm sure the races that get data out the fastest have not only timing equipment but software that works directly with said timing equipment and really good processes to avoid discrepencies on race day
