Can you give us somewhat of a description/comparison of your PM trail? Perhaps from someone who has done maybe McNaughton (Illinois 50-100-150 ) , Rockcut Hobo ( 50K ) , Afton 50K or maybe either the Kettle Moraine or the Ice Age??? Just looking for some input on expectations....... heck I won't be breaking any sound barriers as I just do these to finish them ( ie DFL at Afton my first - so I PR'ed AND DFL'ed PRICELESS!!! ) but I firmly believe that speed kills! thanks for any info. Oh how about temp. averages??? Creek crossing? ( love those!! ) Bug spray? Snake repellent? Large bore rifle for bear? Rosary??? THANKS! Steve

if you like technical (rocky and narrow), hilly trails, you will be in heaven
i was down there saturday for a training run. the trail is all single track and very technical (rocky). lots of up and down as well. there are a couple of places where you have to jump over small creeks, but unless it is raining, you wont have any issues with getting your feet wet.
the biggest challenge with the pine mountain trail is that the constant technical nature of it really wears you out mentally, there are very few, if any, places where you can just zone out and cruise a long. you have to pay attention to your footing constantly or you will fall a lot.
at this point, there is no telling what the weather will be on the first weekend of december. usually, late fall around here is pretty mild. the skeeters and snakes should be put up for the winter. the only wildlife i saw saturday was a couple of deer, and we had no problems with bugs.
