Does anyone run in running skirts. I've thought about switching to one, but wanted some options from some women who have tried them

I know Janice runs in them. I have run in one but not raced. If they fit right, they are nice...but the one I wore was too big in the waist. I've seen girls wearing them in ultra races I have run.

I've been thinking about trying one.
If you can suggest a brand that's not too long, I would try one.

Are they basically tennis skirts with a diffrent tag? It seams like they would prevent chaffing with a little more modesty then just running in racing briefs. I don't want to be THAT GIRL in the running skirt but i'm willing to try them if they help

I know this is an old thread but in case people still want an opinion I thought I'd give mine.
I love running skirts, specifically the ones with the longer "biking shorts" rather than the spankies. I have thunder thighs (affectionately known as TTs) that eat regular shorts and rub together. I have problems with chafing after distances of ~15 miles due to my TTs. I am not a thin woman and even back when I was young and at my lightest weight of 115 lbs my thighs were still TTs that rubbed together and chafed. Add to that I am not at all comfortable trotting around in tights and showing all my stuff. So, for me, I like the modesty they offer along with protection from chafing.
They are a little bit different than tennis skirts in that the short SHOULD be more compressive and the pockets are geared for runners rather than tennis balls. But I have bought some off-name brands over the internet that when they arrived I could see they were re-purposed tennis skirts. The ones from runningskirts.com and skirtsports.com are the ones I like the best.

I have a couple of running skirts that I really like. When I did the "Skirt Chaser 5k" awhile back, the entry fee included the running skirt. It's very light and feminine. I like running in those because it really conforms to your body. Mine had the bicycle shorts underneath, but shorter length than the skirt. There is a slit on the side of the skirt where you can see the shorts. It doesn't ride up and the waist band makes your waist look slimmer, which is great for those that has a little pooch (in my case, resulting from two kids). I like the look of females being athletic and feminine at the same time. The skirt chaser website offers so many different types of skirts for different sports. Some of the items are expensive but they do offer deals every once in a while. I hope this helps! Sophene

I like my New Balance running skirt, but only for short runs. The "shorts" underneath ride up. I think the newer styles are better than the one I have.
