Can you handle the southeast's "toughest trail marathon" (according to Blue Ridge Outdoors, August 2011) The fifth annual Mystery Mountain Marathon & 12-Miler at beautiful Fort Mountain State Park will be on October 14, 2012!! Be sure to mark this on your calendar early so you can plan your racing schedule around this annual GUTS event. The marathon is a one-of-a-kind challenge, but of course we also have our 12-mile race as well if that is more in your wheelhouse. And as always, the MMM weekend will be a fun-filled gathering of friends old and new. More information, website updates, and registration coming soon. Stay tuned!! --Kim mysterymtnmarathon@getguts.com

Call me crazy, but I could not find a link to register for the race on the MMM website, to which GUTS links on their homepage. What am I missing?

Thanks, Amanda. Now the links are there.
So...how crazy would it be to make this my first marathon distance?

Thanks, Amanda. Now the links are there. So...how crazy would it be to make this my first marathon distance? Not crazy at all - do it! This will be my 5th year participating (3x on the 12, and last year and this year the full) - both distances are fantastic. Cheers!

I ponder participating at the marathon or 12-miler.
Does anybody has got a GPS track of the course and would like to share it? I would feel more secure to not lose my way.
Here in Germany we don't have bears. What would you recommend if meeting a bear while running?
Regards, Heiko

I am sure some folks have GPS from previous years.
If you meet a bear...it will most likely run in the opposite direction. but if it doesn't slowly back away. Don't run!
